Throughout the day we accumulate tensions, unresolved situations and worries that often translate into stress. Our brain does what it can to the extent that it acts almost as a repository of problems that, sometimes, are shed to the rest of the body in the form of headaches, discomfort, stomach problems, bad mood, etc.

But in a totally voluntary and inexplicable act we decided to sit down to encourage our favorite football team, knowing that a defeat would not collaborate at all with our brain overwhelmed with slopes, however, there we are, testing ourselves in a game that poses only two results: lose or win.

Why do we do it? It is evident that our brain considers the possibility of winning in the face of defeat, since it offers a considerable reward of happiness and absolute joy. Passion emerges and with it a huge spoonful gives satisfaction that returns our well-being. But, in scientific terms, What happens when we shout a goal?

According to Dr. Christian Leiva, Medical Director of La Posada del Qenti, shouting a goal helps release contained tensions and emotions, vent, comfort and of course channel stress. That screaming, explains the Doctor, has nothing to do with the scream in a discussion that arises to raise one's voice and that another person hears, in the case of the goal it has to do with releasing those accumulated tensions, it has much more to do with oneself, than with the other. On the other hand, the daily stress plus that accumulated during the match raise the pulsations and the relief product of the goal call, notably helping to normalize those pulsations.

From the psychological point of view, Lic. Yanina Silvestri, also a professional at La Posada del Qenti, says that shouting a goal, from satisfaction and joy, is like emptying a balloon that is inflated with nerves, tension and stress. This happens because the brain, at the moment of shouting the goal, releases large amounts of oxytocin and lowers cortisol levels. Shouting the goal affirms that something came true that has been desired a lot, generating joy, satisfaction, relief and tranquility. In this way, superficial and deep emotions are brought into play and can be interpreted as a message that many other things that the person wants can continue to be given.
