When you feel agitated, distressed, depressed, low, you are more at risk of being overweight, because being overweight is strongly linked to hormones. Be aware of the influence of feelings, environment, and nutrition.

Several hormones such as insulin influence appetite. Ghrelin and estrogen trigger appetite, and serotonin, cholecystokinin, and peptide all tend to slow down “the urge to eat.” The hormones that open the appetite cause the feeling of hunger and should not be very active when you are trying to lose weight, for this reason it is important to eat healthy foods that do not stimulate them, that contain a lot of fiber and the necessary carbohydrates.

For example ghrelin is generated in the stomach when it is empty and causes the signal that we should eat. When we eat ghrelin levels decrease until the stomach is full. That is why it is important that the stomach is full for a long time in this healthy eating helps.  Estrogens are the female sex hormones, when the level of estrogen rises it also increases the feeling of hunger, this hormone can be affected by the menstrual cycle and the action of different medications.

Serotonin is a neurotransmitter, that is, a hormone that acts in our brain and is important since it produces the sensation of saturation. The lack of serotonin induces copious intakes, especially products rich in carbohydrates or carbs.
