This initiative generated debate in the scientific and nutritional community, especially in relation to the published image, as it could lead to erroneous interpretations. For example, in the pyramid, meat and butter are ranked at the upper level, while cereals are ranked at the lower level, which may imply that the consumption of saturated fats is encouraged. However, in the complementary text to the image it is clarified that it is not recommended that more than 10% of the fats ingested in the day come from these fats (animal fats). On the contrary, the importance of prioritizing the consumption of foods that are sources of unsaturated fats, such as avocado, nuts, seeds and olive oil, of vegetable origin is emphasized.
We emphasize the importance of a correct reading of its recommendations for a proper interpretation of them. In this way, it is possible to identify messages that, for the most part, coincide with the principles that are promoted in the diet of La Posada del Qenti. Within them we emphasize: the incorporation of various sources of protein, both of animal and vegetable origin, such as legumes, the habitual consumption of fruits, vegetables and whole grains, which promotes the consumption of fiber and prebiotics, all recommendations that positively impact the health of the intestinal microbiota. It also emphasizes the importance of prioritizing the consumption of real food, food without packages, wrappers, preservatives or additives, closer to the earth and to the nutrients that our body needs to be in harmony and healthy.
- Limit the consumption of packaging and ultra-processed products.
